Community involvement in health significant

Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr Edwin Dikoloti has encouraged the public to acquaint themselves with health service providers and health protocols to develop positive health behaviour.
Debating the State-of-the- Nation Address, Dr Dikoloti, who is the Mmathethe/Molapowabojang MP, said a cohesive working relationship between the community and health personal would ensure the community’s clear understanding of services rendered to them.
He highlighted the importance of community involvement in health-related issues, saying it built a partnership with health personnel for improved healthcare service delivery.
Dr Dikoloti said health management teams were forever keen on giving a platform for transparent consultation between the health institution and the customers, hence the need for direct community involvement in the health sector.
He further emphasised government’s commitment to curbing the spread of COVID-19, highlighting that government would never take its eyes off the ball in guarding against the spread of the virus.
The advent of COVID-19, he said, was exemplary of the solidarity and unity that the nation was known for as the public demonstrated a high level of patriotism to ensure that government’s efforts of containing the spread of COVID-19 were sustainable.
He further said the initiatives outlined under water management in the State-of-the-Nation Address were highly commendable as the project would remedy the water crisis in Mmathethe, Digawana, Molapowabojang and surrounding villages.
He also highlighted that there were some villages in the vicinity of Jwaneng Mine such as Maokane, which were failing to economically benefit from the mine due to inaccessibility to the mining town.
“The mining town should be sourcing fresh produce and other products from these nearby villages to advance their socio-economic status.
I, therefore, appeal for the road linking Jwaneng and Maokane to be tarred,” he said.
Other roads that need attendance in his constituency, he said, were the Molapowabojang-Lorwana, Metlobo-Mmathethe and Mmathethe-Lerolwane roads.
He also urged the relevant authorities to consider reopening Mmathethe Service Centre, saying its closure had crippled the agro-business sector in the constituency.
Dr Dikoloti further pleaded for the opening of Citizen Entrepreneural Development Agency and Local Enterprise Authority offices in the constituency and suggested that the agencies should in the meantime provide mobile services through outreach programmes in the absence of permanent offices.
The youth, he said, must be supported and guided to undertake agricultural initiatives for the country to feed its nation. ends
