Nata police investigate road accidents

Police in Nata are investigating two road accidents, which occured  along the A3 Francistown-Nata road on Monday.

Nata Police station commander, Superintendent Vincent Pitsietsile told BOPA on Tuesday that a Zimbabwean national lost his life in one of the accidents.

He said the deceased was a passenger in a Toyota Dyna, which overturned after the driver lost control of the vehicle, while trying to avoid hitting a cow, just after Nata village.

 Supt Pitsietsile revealed that the vehicle had three passengers, two of them, including the deceased, were sitting at the back. He said two passengers and the driver escaped with minor injuries and were treated and discharged at Nata clinic.

In another accident, a driver of a Toyota Hilux, which was coming from the Francistown side lost his right hand, after the vehicle collided with a truck that was coming from the Maun side.

The station commander noted that investigations were ongoing to determine the causes of the accidents.

Meanwhile, Supt. Pitsietsile revealed that they had remanded a 46-year-old Tutume man, residing in Nata, in custody over a threat to kill case.

He said that the suspect allegedly threatened to kill his 47-year-old girlfriend of Sepako, who resides at Makwenaejang ward in Nata, on Monday night.

He said the accused would appear before Nata magistrate court on December 14 this year. ENDS
