Head-on collision claims lives

At least three people died in a tragic road accident in which a Nissan Navara collided head-on with a Toyota Noah 40km from Gumare in the direction of Shakawe.
Gumare Police Station commander, Superintendent Dennis Zilawe confirmed the incident, saying they received a report of the accident on Sunday around 16:30pm.
He said one vehicle was from Gumare heading the Shakawe direction while the other was from Shakawe in the direction of Gumare.
Supt Zilawe said both vehicles had four occupants, noting that the Nissan Navara had two adults and two children, a 10-month and a six- year old, while occupants of the Noah were all adults.
He said two people from the Noah and one from the Nissan Navara were certified dead upon arrival at Gumare Primary Hospital, while the other two from Noah sustained serious injuries and were admitted at the hospital.
Supt. Zilawe said from the Navara, the adult and the 6-year-old also sustained serious injuries and were also admitted at the hospital, while the 10-month old escaped unharmed.
Meanwhile, the station commander appealed to drivers using A35 road, popularly known as Sehithwa-Mohembo to be vigilant because the road was in a bad state with many potholes. Ends
