15 Nov 2020
Botswana Book Project has donated some items to Kgatleng Regional Education Centre for use in schools.
The donated items consist of 10 computers, 150 solar lights, 1 200 educational books, 200 masks, 40-litre soap, 40-litre hand sanitizer and tower light.
Speaking at the donation event on Friday, Kgatleng regional operations director Mr Mothusi James, said the shortage of books affected learning, particularly in primary schools.
He said the donation was a great blessing and would go a long way in grooming pupils academically.
Mr James also applauded schools in his region for strict adherence to the COVID-19 protocols something which he said contributed to low positive cases in Kgatleng schools.
For his part, Botswana Books Project director of operations Mr Ezekiel Malenya applauded Dikwididi school head for the school’s upkeep. He said the neatness in the school premises was one of the things that attracted them to donate to the school and adopting it in the process.
Dikwididi school head, Ms Tiny Kenosi, expressed gratitude for the donation.
Meanwhile, councillors for Mochudi East constituency also donated face masks, hand sanitisers and a door to Lady Mitchison Primary School. Councillor for Sikwane/Mabalane Mr Seth Sekate appealed to school heads and teachers to ensure that the donated items were put to good.
