Team work enables Boteti to manage COVID-19 cases

Boteti Regional Health Coordinator, Ms Gasebotho Kedikilwe says team work and prompt response has enabled the COVID-19 response team in Boteti to curb the spread of the virus in the area.

Ms Kedikilwe said during the sub-district emergency COVID-19 team meeting recently, that all stakeholders were on board, working as a team and sharing resources.

She said thematic areas of COVID-19 were active and communicated effectively citing surveillance team, case management, contact tracing, infection management and control teams.

So far, Ms Kedikilwe said that the district had 124 recoveries with only six in facility isolation.

She said the district had a total of 1167 suspected cases, amongst them 255 who were in institutional isolation and 912 in home isolation.

Further, she said that Debswana renovated an isolation centre at Mmatshumo village RADS hostel to be used as  a COV ID-19 isolation centre.

Ms Kedikilwe said they would continue ensuring adherence to  COVID-19 preventative measures, urging the community of Boteti to adhere to the protocols.

For his part, Officer Commanding, Dristrict N0. 8, Superintendent Obert Manji, stated that 222 people were arrested for failure to wear mask in Letlhakane, Rakops and Orapa.

He said that failure to observe COVID-19 protocols by not wearing face masks in the public was a concern in the district with a total of 150 cases were recorded in Letlhakane only from October 14 to November 10.

In addition 18 people were arrested for drinking in a prohibited place, four for unlawful gathering whilst three were arrested for travelling between zones without permit in Orapa, Letlhakane and Rakops.

Supt Manji also stated that 16 people were also arrested for selling traditional beer after stipulated hours. Ends
