ICDL is an IT skills validation programme with a large, diverse network of testing centres all over the world.

Mr Sebonego listed computer essentials, online essentials, word processing and spreadsheet among other important essentials as core modules for anyone who uses a computer and emphasised the need to take the modules.
He underscored that for quality assurance purposes, all ICDL base modules were accredited and under compliance with International Standards.
For his part, Faculty ICDL coordinator at Limkokwing University, Mr Mompati Kekgathetse said the Human Resource Development Council (HRDC) emphasised the need to develop qualifications that were align with industry specifications, such as ICDL, to bridge the gap between what the market needs and the quality of graduates.
Mr Kekgathetse said this was a wonderful opportunity for both current and prospective students as the certification programme would now be infused into the university’s learning programmes and qualifications, enabling students to acquire current trends in ICT education.
“ICDL is a research-based capacity building programme that is continually revised by a group of IT professionals all over the world,” he said.
Furthermore, he said the university would soon open ICDL training to the public.
He said the university also intended to incubate its special needs centre into the ICDL Programme as such would help in inclusive education. Ends
