Managers Forum business epitome of mobile catering

03 Nov 2020

For a long time it has been known across cultures that a woman’s place is in the kitchen and that the man belongs out there somewhere in the corporate world.

If we go even further back in history, men were hunters and women were gatherers.

This automatically meant that the woman did not wonder too far from the kitchen while the man went out into the wild to bring back a kill to compliment the dinner plate.

But when a man decides to go into the kitchen and cook for loved ones or, better still, when he decides to turn cooking into a career and become a chef, what a sight to behold!

And here I confidently speak for the ladies.

Speaking in an interview with the Managers Forum (MF) business, which is a mobile catering business of six vibrant men, who continue to prove that if one thinks outside the box, they can make a living even within an industry that seems saturated.

They have each found an approach different from the conventional.

“We saw a niche in the market.

So only on weekends do we erect stalls at different events and do what we do best, which is cooking, when there are no events we host private sessions for different customers, because we do not have a target market, so anybody who enjoys braai menus is welcome,” he said.

He said their business depicts a lifestyle where barbecuing should not just be limited to a certain type of cooking style.

They do not believe that it is okay for people to expect that when they are at outdoor events the only food to look forward to should be hot dogs.

They therefore make unique dishes that could be anything from a hearty meal to a saucy messy sandwich and various menu items ranging from burgers, fries, chicken, beef and ribs.

He said besides events and private sessions they host MF peso Sundays, where they do cookouts for deliveries at the comfort of their places.

In addition, he said the lockdown affected them badly and they had to now start afresh and regroup their strategy.

“We have restructured and re-evaluated because since we are mobile we are looking forward to travelling to different places for events, wherever Batswana want us we will be available.

For now we are into events catering, but when the demand grows we will go into event hosting.

One of our strategies is to have MF Day, where we have other business outlets like ours to interact and compare notes.” He said.

Lastly, Moleta said they were trying by all means to push BW products, as such they source all their ingredients locally.

We have different social media platforms available for people to make orders. ENDS
