01 Nov 2020

Bituminisation  of Tshesebe-Mosojane-Masunga road is ongoing, says Minister of Transport and Communication, Mr Thulagano Segokgo.

Responding to a question during the Ntlo ya Dikgosi session recently, Mr Segokgo highlighted that once the project is completed, the road would be gazrtted as a bituminous one.

He said the project was previously awarded for upgrading in 2016, but the contract was terminated in September 2018 due to poor performance by the contractor.

Minister Segokgo said the ministry had since endeavoured to procure a new contractor to complete the remaining work, adding that there had however, been delays in restarting due to protests by unsuccessful bidders.

He further acknowledged that the heaps of gravel  that were dumped on site as part of the construction process were an eye sore, adding that the gravel heaps would be used as filling material when construction resumed while some would be used for rehabilitation of borrow pits at the end of the projects.

Specially elected member of Ntlo ya Dikgosi, Kgosi Kebonyetsala Fish had requested the minister to explain when he would gazette the Tshesebe-Mosojane-Masunga gravel road as earth road. ENDS
