 The Charlie family in Taung in South East District was on October 29 ushered to their new home; thanks to donations from Paper 4 Africa and community.

The house was built by Paper 4 Africa while fencing of the yard was done by Taung community through contributions.

Speaking at the event, Balete senior chief representative, Kgosi Motlhanka Mokgosi, commended Paper 4 Africa for helping the needy.

He said contributing to the wellbeing of the community was  everyone’s responsibility and Paper 4 Africa had shown that it was indeed part of the society.

Kgosi Mokgosi said no member of the society could live alone without the support and assistance of other community members.

 Kgosi Lebogang Masie of Taung was  elated that in the midst of competing interests and life challenges, Paper 4 Africa and Taung residents resolved to improve the life of their fellow neighbor.

 He said collaborations to help the needy were in line with the aspirations of Vision 2036, which was anchored on prosperity for all.

 However, he regretted that it took over three-years for the house to be given to the family due to some challenges.

A representative of the South East South Sub-district Council, Mr Nakedi Morwagabuse concurred with Kgosi Masie that there were delays in handing over the project.

However, he said the sub-council wanted to ensure that the house was habitable with installation of facilities such as water, toilets, bedding and others before being handed over to the beneficiary. 

He thus thanked Paper 4 Africa for involvement saying government could not go it alone due to limited resources.

An official from Paper 4 Africa, Mr Joseph Puvinamasigue, said the company took social corporate responsibility seriously, adding that the Taung house was not the first house that the company built for the needy. Mr Puvinamasigue said apart from building for the needy, Paper 4 Africa had donated books to various schools around the country.

He said his company was filled with joy now that the house had finally been handed to its beneficiary.  Ends
