Jeremane sinks Masitaoka

A solitary strike in the first half earned visiting Jwaneng Comets maximum points against Masitaoka in Molepolole on Sunday, September 22.
Despite having an upper hand and creating numerous scoring opportunities against the home side, Comets only managed to grab a goal in the 21st minute through a free kick outside the box, which was converted by Mogomotsi Jeremane, beating Masitaoka shot-stopper Ofentse Mokgosi at the far post.
Throughout the game, Comets showed more hunger and determination than the home team, but poor finishing by its frontline of Oteng Mosala, Collen Keotlogele and Jeremane let the numerous chances fly by.
The poor finishing by the mining town lads was noted with concern by their coach, Kelebopgile Seamokwena who said in a post match interview that the problem will have to be corrected before their next game away to Black Forest of Mankgodi.
“We really didn’t play well especially when we moved inside the box and my players have to learn to be composed and pick a spot. I have observed that when we get inside the box we get in a hurry to shoot, which results in missing the target,” he said.
Seamokwena pointed out that had they found their composure in the box, they could have buried their opponent with a lot of goals. “We could have scored about six goals had we taken our time inside the box, but that is not very worrying because other areas such as defence and midfield played well, so we only have to go back to training and sharpen our defence, and should we do that, I am confident that we will collect maximum points in our next game,” he said.
In their first game of the league, Comets shared the spoils with Mochudi Buffaloes. On one hand, Masitaoka mentor, Kabo Bolokwe said his team’s main undoing was in the finishing.
“The game was evenly balanced but we have challenges in the offensive as my front men were isolated most of the time. We played well and fought for the ball in the midfield, but we were unfortunate to be punished through the free kick, which was a result of poor organisation of the wall,” he said.
Having lost all their games so far, this should have Masitaoka technical bench worried, and Bolokwe said they were expecting a tough game from their next opponent in Rolling Boys. “We expect the game to be tough just like all the other games. My defence and midfield are fine and we need to work hard on converting chances. Rolling Boys play an open game and do not pack their defence, and this will give us a chance to attack them,” he said.
