Ministry of Youth, Sport Empowerment and Culture Development (MYSC) in collaboration with a youth-owned business, Facility Beauty Spa last week conducted a week long training to young women in Mochudi.
Speaking at a closing ceremony in Mochudi recently, MYSC Kgatleng District coordinator, Ms Masego Kgosiemang said the training targeted young women who were self-taught in the beauty industry and focused on sharing tips on how they could improve and expand their businesses.
She applauded young women who used their talents to find means of making an income, especially in times where unemployment was a global concern and encouraged small businesses to be patient and not bank on quick returns.
When advising participants, Facility Beauty Spa owner Ms Lebopo Buyalani explained that starting a business had challenges, therefore it needed dedication, passion and ability to strive beyond challenges.
She urged small business operators to work together in order to grow the beauty and therapy industry in the country.
“It is high time we as beauty business owners come together and form an association that will deal with issues such as regulation of prices, products and standards of operation.” She said.
For her part, MYSC programmes officer, Ms Ivy Mogomotsi, who lead the initiative, said that the opportunity came at the right time for the youth as they were faced with unemployment since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Please ensure that all that you learn from this training will positively change your mind set to operating a businesses. Register your businesses and aim higher in life,” she said. Ends
