Celebrate life embrace memories

President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi has encouraged the family of the late Mr Archibald Makgothi to celebrate his life and embrace the memories they had of him.
The President, who visited the bereaved family yesterday, described Mr Makgothi as a warm, loving man who lived a fulfilled life.
A teacher by profession, Dr Masisi said the deceased, who died on October 9, was a great school head during his time who was also fond of sports and his students.
The Minister of Tertiary Education, Research, Science and Technology Dr Douglas Letsholathebe remembered Mr Makgothi as a jolly educator.
Dr Letsholathebe said Mr Makgothi was very close to his students, something he said the deceased instilled in him as an educator himself.
His daughter, Ms Bantsi Makgothi, who said she had the privilege of being both his child and student, described him as a compassionate man who showed his love to both his students and children alike.
She said her father was a very gentle loving man but also very strict.
Mr Makgothi started his career as an educator in 1976 at Madiba School in Mahalapye where he later became a school head in 1981 until 1987.
He was transferred to Gaborone Senior School in 1988 where he served as a school head until 1996 when he left for the then Ministry of Education.
In 2004 Mr Makgothi was appointed deputy permanent secretary in the ministry and served in that capacity until 2008.
He leaves behind his wife, three children and five grandchildren. He will be laid to rest on Friday. ends
