September 18 marked the launch of one of the biggest collaboration products in the local music industry.

Upcoming hip hop artiste, Oabona Kenosi aka Mrepa wa Eloyi has featured Dr Vom and renowned local hip hop sensation A.T.I in his single dubbed Dilo di Chenchile.

Dilo di Chenchile is a unique product in the sense that artistes of different genres particularly Dr Vom of traditional music blended well to come up with a hip hop hit. The single, which the trio has been working on for the past six months, also has a quality video.

Marketed well, the single can do well in the market given the fine beats and some of the interesting lines by the three artistes. Mrepa wa Eloyi said he wrote the song comparing what is happening today with what was happening in the past and what will happen in the future, hence the name of the track Dilo di Chenchile.

There is an interesting line by A.T.I which goes when was the last time o bona motho a apere dangari. This line emphasised that a lot has really changed adding that clothes people used to wear are seldom seen. Mrepa also said as an upcoming artiste, he was looking up to A.T.I and Dr Vom as mentors and was convinced that the devoted following A.T.I has will take him to higher levels.

Meanwhile A.T.I has urged other local artistes to embark into music collaborations noting that they are very critical and can take the local music industry to greater heights. He said collaborations proved to be effective in other countries such as South Africa and the United States.

Botswana Musicians Union president, Phempheretlhe Pheto urged local artistes to refrain from alcohol and drug abuse as this could ruin their careers. He also noted that abuse of alcohol by musicians has contributed to the decision by government to reduce hours for night festivals.

He however commended the three for a job well done, noting that it should be an example to fellow musicians. ENDS
