Livestock feed subsidy ends
01 Jul 2020
Government has, from June 30, stopped the 35 per cent livestock feed subsidy.
A press release from the Ministry of Agricultural Development and Food Security says the subsidy was government’s decision after drought and household food security vulnerability assessment.
The release also explains that the assessment was carried out by Botswana Vulnerability Assessment Committee, which recommended implementation of the subsidy after President Dr
Mokgweetsi Masisi declared 2019 drought stricken due to forage and crop failure.
The ministry has therefore thanked all stakeholders, including livestock farmers, livestock feed retailers and the public who participated in the subsidy. ENDS
