BotswanaPost chief commends TNMC

15 Sep 2013

BotswanaPost chief executive officer has commended Tati Nickel Mining Company (TNMC) for its continued contribution in supporting charitable causes around the Francistown area.

Mr Pele Moleta, who was the chief walker in the fourth edition of the 20km managing director’s walk on September 14, explained that BotswanaPost embraced the brand behind the walk. Mr Moleta noted that the more the company helped communities around the mine the more it helped itself.

He added that while employees walked to raise funds for charity, they also benefitted by keeping their bodies fit through exercising which was crucial for workplace productivity. “A healthy body results in a healthy mind,” he explained.

He added that the more companies gave to deserving charitable causes, the more wealth accrued to them. Mr Moleta also indicated that TNMC had set the bar high by contributing towards education, health and the company was already at the forefront in the adopt-a-school initiative.

He also commended the company’s management for working hard when the organisation was faced with operational challenges to ensure that the mine continued to operate beyond 2015. That, he noted, would ensure that communities around the mine continued to benefit from their charitable causes.

Mr Moleta also thanked BotswanaPost employees for taking part in the walk. However, he noted that as an organisation, they had a long journey ahead in an effort to strive for excellence.

“We want to make the post office a one stop service centre everywhere where we are found,” he quipped. Consequently, he explained that they wanted to continue to partner with government to bring services closer to the people.

He also thanked sponsors and urged them to continue supporting charity. TNMC managing director, Mr Sergei Steshenko thanked all participants and company employees, adding that with integrated efforts they would them achieve a lot.

He added that the company would continue to contribute to social upliftment programmes in areas such as education, health and other aspects of community development. “Tati Nickel cares and will continue to help charity,” he highlighted.

North East District Council deputy chairperson, Ms Florence Mpetsane commended the mine for the fundraising walk, adding that charity was one of the instruments used to eradicate poverty.“As the North East district we are the main beneficiaries of this walk and last year both Matsiloje and Matshelagabedi benefitted from the funds raised during the walk,” she observed.

She also commended the company for making a difference in the lives of the less privileged. This year’s walk attracted over 600 participants. Sponsors included, Mingex, Barclays, Botswana Post, AFA, Metropolitan, Standard Chartered, Avis, IMS Engineering, Cresta Marang, Francistown Toyota, Modi Investments, Norilsk, BCL, IDM, BAC, AON, BDF, Mascom, Barloworld, Sefalana, Galo Shopping Mall and KBL.
