BNOC board member gets IOC award

Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC) board member and president of Botswana Judo Federation, Estony Hattingh has received an award in recognition of her contribution to promoting the development and participation of women and girls in sport.
A press release from BNOC states that the award, given by the International Olympic Committee, was handed to Hattingh by the International Judo Federation president, Marius Vizer last month in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Hattingh, who is also the head communications director of the African Judo Union, International Judo Federation Gender Commission member recently won the 2013 Botswana National Sports Council non-citizen award.
The press statement highlights that Hattingh is an exceptional sports administrator who has contributed to sport significantly over the years, through participation in various sport committees and ultimately serving in the BNOC board. The release further says Hattingh has also coached the national Judo team, accompanied the team to various competitions as manager, and in 2012 staged a successful African Junior Judo and Cadet Championships in Botswana.
The press release states that BNOC sees this as an exceptional achievement especially for Hattingh and the sporting fraternity as a whole as it shows that indeed Botswana has world class administrators. ENDS
