BITC Ambassadors dine together

12 Sep 2013

Staff at BITC have been encouraged to sustain and nurture the relationship they have with Botswana’s missions abroad.

Speaking at a dinner hosted by Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC) for Botswana heads of missions in Gaborone , board member, Mr Chris Garland said they had worked with many missions abroad to promote Botswana at various investment exhibitions.

He said such efforts should continue and bear fruit.  Mr Garland stressed the importance of building and maintaining strong relationships with the missions abroad to identify and create opportunities for investment in Botswana, and also to promote the country internationally.

He noted that their unified and strong relations would go a long way in helping them achieve their target of attracting investors to Botswana, and branding the country as the premier trade, investment and tourism destination of choice in Africa.

For his part, BITC acting chief executive officer, Mr Letsebe Sejoe expressed appreciation for the attendance of the dinner by the heads of missions as it offered BITC an opportunity to interact with them under the same roof, as it was not always possible for BITC to visits all the missions abroad.

He pointed out the crucial role that heads of missions play as the foremost representatives of Botswana and appealed for their help in luring investors to the country as that would help create employment opportunities for Batswana.  Mr Molosiwa Selepeng, who is Botswana’s  High Commissioner to Australia, said their offices were doing their best to sell Botswana to international investors and that such efforts were bearing fruit.

He urged other heads of mission to continue with the good work. ENDS
