As part of its contribution towards COVID-19 fight, Umageza Construction Company on May 11 fumigated Kanye Tribal Administration offices following the easing of extreme social distancing regulations.
The effort was to make offices ready for conducive work atmosphere for more employees.
In an interview, senior chief representative, Mr Kwelagobe Mookodi said they appreciated the efforts by Umageza, noting that it had eased gradual resumption of duty by some officers, increasing the number of staff in the offices.
Mr Mookodi said the development also led to the resumption of trial for criminal cases, which in turn meant an addition of five members to the exiting 10, who were working since the beginning of the extreme social distancing.
“Since the lockdown, our office has been mandated to assist people on death-related matters, so we had a lot of people from the village who frequented our office,” he said.
Mr Mookodi therefore noted that the disinfecting of offices would go a long way in addressing recommendations from the Ministry of Health and Wellness.
He said they had already began registering visitors, adding that they were considering installing hand basins at the entrance and an infra-red thermometer to take temperature readings of all entering the premises.
“We have taken this issue with utmost seriousness it deserves, as we strive to prevent both the staff and our clients from being exposed to the virus while accessing our services,” he said.
He acknowledged that government could not manage alone, therefore there was need for bogosi to assist, adding that they were also working with Kanye Administrative Authority in identifying those in need of COVID-19 food relief assistance.
For his part, director of the Kanye based Umageza Construction, Mr Dikabelo Selaledi said they saw it fit to fumigate the main Kgotla with the aim of creating safety of employees and the entire clientele. He indicated that, they were considering fumigating the offices for the second time after a week.
Mr Selaledi assured the officers that the chemicals used were BQA certified and therefore safe. He said they would further engage with the office to assist with infra-red thermometers. ENDS
