The Ministry of health and Wellness has responded to Ineeleng Holdings (Pty) Ltd regarding allegations made by Ms Ineeleng Kavindama on various media outlets on a donation by the mentioned company.
In a press release, the ministry admits that Ineeleng Holdings donated infusion pump machines to Office of the President on April 20, in response to the fight against Covid-19. It states that the machines were handed to the Ministry of Health and Wellness on April 21 and the company was issued with a receipt of Gen12 on April 22.
However, the release says, an assessment discovered that the machines could not be installed as they were incomplete. In order to utilise the machines, there is need to procure relevant medical consumables which are brand specific and very expensive, the release says.
Therefore, the ministry indicated that acceptance of donations is done in line with the PPADB guidelines on ‘Market Research and Management of Donations in Public Procurement Guidelines’ of 2017 and WHO Guidelines and Medicines and Related Substances Act which requires that prior to the donation, the recipient should assess the donation to determine if it meets their requirements and costs of maintenance including running costs.
The press release therefore indicate that further communication regarding the outcome of the assessment will be done with Ineeleng Holdings (Pty) Ltd. ENDS
