Liquor traders should adhere to laws

Ministry of Trade and Industry has advised all liquor traders to observe and comply with provisions of the law as failure to comply will result in punitive action taken against perpetrators.
A press release stated that the ministry had observed that some liquor traders played loud music that disturbed the peace of their neighborhood. It furthers said that liquor traders were reminded of regulations 69(2) (d) of the Liquor Regulations, 2008 which stated that “a bar licensee may play music within licensed premises provided the music is not loud and cannot be heard at a distance of more than 200 metres from the licensed premises”.
The release stated that, Section 28 (1) of the Liquor Act, 2003 empowered authorised officers to order licensed premises to be closed for such period as they consider appropriate, where serious breach of peace has occurred or is likely to occur. ENDS
