Restructuring of Water Utilities at early stage

Water Utilities Corporation (WUC) restructuring project is currently at staff placement and exit management stage, which is planned for completion by the end of March. Minister of Land Management, Water and Sanitation Services, Mr Kefentse Mzwinila said the first Phase of the project was concluded in July 2017.
Responding to a question in Parliament on Wednesday, Mr Mzwinila said the WUC restructuring project commenced in September of 2016, with the main objective being to review and design a fit for purpose organisational structure.
Minister Mzwinila said the project was executed in two phases, with the first phase covering review and design a fit for purpose organisational structure at a budget of P8 336 536.
The key deliverables for the first phase include the review of the corporation business model and value chain, review of business processes, development of the macro or departments functional structures, design of new job descriptions, development of staffing and capacity models and evaluating of jobs to determine job grades.
The minister further said the second phase of the project entailed staff placement and exit management at an estimated budget of P202 million.
The key deliverables of the second phase are employees job fit assessment, company assessment for executive and senior management level positions, competency based interviews, staff placement/structure resourcing and exit management, said the minister.
Minister Mzwinila was responding to a question by MP for Thamaga/Kumakwane, Mr Palelo Motaosane, who wanted to know when the restructuring exercise at WUC would be completed. ENDS
