Siele urges church to intensify prayer
05 Sep 2013
Members of Bontle Bethsaida African Church in Magoriapitse have been urged to pray more especially at a time when the country is grappling with drought and economic recession.
Speaking at the 40th Realeboga Anniversary and Thanksgiving Ceremony held by the church recently, local government and rural development minister, Mr Peter Siele called upon church members to pray for rain and reminded them that September was a month of prayer.
Mr Siele, who is also the Member of Parliament for Ngwaketse South, also encouraged residents to utilise government assistance programmes to uplift their lives.
On other issues, the minister indicated that elders and churches were concerned about youth who engaged in alcohol and drug abuse. He blamed this on erosion of moral values such as botho, and called on the church to pray for the nation.
The minister also encouraged the church to own the Vision 2016 pillar of a Compassionate, Just and Caring Nation. ENDS
