Assistant Minister of Health and Wellness has acknowledged challenges in the provision of health services due to inadequate resources.
Responding to a question in Parliament on Thursday, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe said Mochudi East had not been spared from such challenges, indicating that all the 13 facilities in the constituency were serviced by five doctors based in Boseja II, Oodi, Bokaa and Mmathubudukwane clinics.
He added that the constituency had three 24-hour facilities while others were operating either on a call or up to 4:30pm.
He said the average drug availability for Mochudi East Constituency was 92 per cent as at January this year.
Mr Lelatisitswe also told Parliament that the proposed Mmathubudukwane hospital was not constructed due to budgetary constraints. He indicated that the ministry was looking into allocating an additional doctor in Malolwane with effect from April this year and would also consider extending hours of operation at
Mmathubudukwane clinic to 24 hours during the 2020/2021 financial year.
Furthermore, Mr Lelatisitswe stated that the ministry had formulated a policy where health care providers should ensure that drugs were availed to patients in a case where there was shortage.
Mochudi East MP, Mr Mabuse Pule had asked the minister if he was aware of the state of health facilities as well as unavailability of health care providers in the constituency. ENDS
