PMC councillors tour projects
10 Feb 2020
Serowe Sub-district Council chairperson, Mr Lesedi Phuthego, has expressed disappointment regarding government buildings which after completion remain unoccupied due to poor workmanship.
Mr Phuthego relayed his concerns when the Performance Monitoring Committee (PMC) and councillors toured projects at Riverside Primary School and Semane Junior Secondary School in Serowe recently.
He said government spent a lot of money constructing buildings, which must benefit the public.
Mr Phuthego gave an example of toilets in Paje and Mabeleapudi primary schools that were never used.
He instructed those responsible to attend to the matter.
Briefing the PMC and councilors on the projects, principal architect at Serowe Administration Authority (SAA), Mr Tiroyamodimo Mathodi said the double story building consisting classroom, another block of classrooms and ablution blocks at Riverside Primary School were finished and would be handed over to the school after which maintenance of classrooms would follow.
Mr Mathodi said there was a challenge of low water pressure in Paje and Mabeleapudi primaries’ toilets, but noted that the matter would be addressed.
At Semane Junior Secondary School, the PMC and councillors toured some teachers’ houses which were not complete.
The site engineers, however, decried challenges noting that they were forced to buy water which did not come cheap. Ends
