Morwaeng Regoeng vow to make difference

26 Jan 2020

Molepolole legislators have vowed to make a developmental difference in their constituencies during a five-year tenure.

Several Molepolole residents  lamented that their village lagged behind in developments, despite being the biggest in the country.

Such concern did not go unnoticed as Molepolole South MP, Mr Kabo Morwaeng and Molepolole North, Mr Oabile Regoeng promised to be action-oriented.

Both legislators laid bare their roadmap for the constituencies detailing their approach on topical issues and how they intended to resolve them.

Mr Morwaeng said their journey started with consultations with different departments as well as the village leadership to understand issues at hand and chart a way forward.

He further stated that they had decided to address the public to hear their concerns and suggestions on how some issues could be tackled.

Mr Morwaeng, also Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, said after consulting the public, they would be in a better position to address issues in Parliament.

He, however, noted a concern raised by dikgosana that in past, they had voiced out similar issues but nothing had been done thus far.

Nonetheless, he assured attendees that they intended to seek permanent solutions to long standing problems.

“We want to provide complete answers to pertinent issues and see lives change for the better,” he highlighted.

MP Morwaeng did not shy away from outlining some of the burning issues such as shortage of water, bad roads, stormwater drainage, a new police station and unprecedented unemployment levels, among other things.

One thing they intended to do in order to chart a way forward, he said, would be to address yet another kgotla meeting where they would give residents an update on all development projects including the water situation.

Commenting on the status of roads, Mr Morwaeng said they had invited the Minister of Transport and Communications for a tour of all roads in question including the main road from Gaborone to Molepolole.

For his part, MP Regoeng said they would bring about positive change in Molepolole.

He said they would only achieve that if Molepolole residents gave them full support.

He added that although they had two constituencies, they shared similar issues and challenges therefore both MPs would be working hand in hand.

And Molepolole paramount chief, Kgosi Kgari Sechele III said constituents had great expectations from both MPs.

He told both MPs that their performance would be judged by their achievements after their five-year term.

Kgosi Kgari III further urged them to ensure that they revisited all projects lagging behind in the village and ensure that they become a reality.

Commenting on issues raised, majority of residents commended both MPs for their new roles and encouraged them to work hard and leave a mark after their term ended.

They also assured them of their full support and advised them to continually consult on issues concerning developments. ENDS
