Businesses donate house in Semotswane

A Semotswane, family have received a one and a half roomed house built at a cost of P30 000.
The house was built by Shashe Hardware, Build Kwik, Cut-Price and Cash & Carry.
Speaking during the house handover ceremony on Wednesday, the Manager of Shashe Hardware, Mr Imtiyaz Kagzi explained that they were prompted to act by the conditions under which the beneficiary was living.
He noted that the beneficiary suffered a lot during the rainy season, as her makeshift house was always filled with water.
He also noted that the beneficiary was not only receiving the house, but would also get life insurance cover.
Mr Kagzi also said that this was not the first donation as they had previously donated another house worth P35 000 to a registered destitute in the village in 2015.
For his part, Kgosi Michael Madumela of Bailaphuti ward in the village commended the donors for recognising that shelter was a basic human need and that without it, one could not live in dignity.
“We celebrate and appreciate it when one is blessed with such donations, especially a house which is very important,” he said.
He also said that what the donors were appreciated, noting that as donors continued to have an impact on the lives of Batswana.
Kgosi Bokamoso Radipitse also commended the donors for their gesture, which he said was consistent with the objectives of the Presidential Housing Appeal, which called on all who were able to help build houses for the needy.
Kgosi Radipitse also said it was high time Batswana normalised supporting one another .
For her part, the beneficiary, Ms Kewagamang Motana, who is a former employee of Shashe Hardware, expressed her appreciation to all those who took part in putting a roof over her head, including donors and residents of Semotswane.
“Despite my life adversities, I have been hopeful that one day my situation would change,” said the 51 year-old.
Social worker, Mr Patrick Rataola applauded companies that not only run businesses, but also exercised their corporate social responsibility by giving back to the community.
He also urged the residents of Semotswane to carry on with being compassionate, just and caring by taking part in the development of the community. ENDS
