Residents complain of poor road condition

21 Jan 2020

Residents of Boribamo ward in Molepolole have expressed concern about the poor road conditions in their area.

Speaking during a meeting addressed by the Member of Parliament for Molepolole North, Mr Oabile Regoeng, the residents also said they were not benefiting from the poverty eradication projects since it took long time for their applications to be approved.

They explained that they went through assessments for the programmes, yet they were never awarded.

Village Development Committee (VDC) chairperson, Ms Maria Toisi, said Boribamo Primary School needed maintenance and developments, adding that there was shortage of classrooms at the school, which sometimes forced teachers to conduct classes outside.

She stated that they also needed a reception classroom.

Ms Toisi said the Molepolole main road should made a dual courage way road.

Moreover, she applauded the council for the developments in the area such as road pavements and maintenance of VDC houses.

She called on the council to expedite development of Boribamo clinic, which she said was in bad condition.

One of the residents, Mr Alfred Kwenasetso said some of the project delays were caused by awarding council tenders late.

Meanwhile, Mr Regoeng noted that it was important for the main road to be expanded to reduce traffic congestion.

He explained that the road project was part of the 2019/2020 projects and it will take approximately 18 months.

He encourage the residents to work together with the department of roads and land board as they are chances of some homes along the main road would be destroyed to pave away for the road. ENDS
