Ransome welcomes Chevening graduates
19 Jan 2020
The British High Commissioner, Ms Katy Ransome, hosted a welcome home ceremony for Chevening alumi recently.
Ms Ransome said she hoped the latest Chevening benefeciaries had a good experience, not just in studies but also in experiencing life in the United Kingdom.
She encouraged all people to always apply for this sponsorship.
One of the 2019/2020 Chevening sponsorship beneficiaries, Ms Juby Peacock, stated that she was grateful for the opportunity that the scholarship had afforded her, saying during the first few months into her studies, she was shocked by the intensity of the programme and the adverse weather conditions but with the help of other scholarship recipients and the Alumni network, she was able to adjust to her new environment.
She further encouraged Batswana to apply for the scholarship.
The former minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Ms Bogolo Kenewendo, who is a Chevening Alumini as well as a Chevening Change maker awardee graced the event to award the seven graduates with certificates. Chevening is the UK Government's global scholarship programme that offers future leaders the distinctive opportunity to study in the UK.
These scholarships were awarded to outstanding professionals from all over the world to pursue master’s degrees in any subject at any UK university.
According to Mr Boniface Badubi, communications and political officer at the British High Commission, the Chevening Scholarship was the United Kingdom’s government scholarship funded by the foreign and commonwealth office. Ends
