BOPEU gives computers to Lotsane
02 Sep 2013
The school head of Lotsane Senior Secondary School, Mr Tshokologo Dineo has appealed to teachers to work harder to produce desirable results which can build a positive institutional image of the school.
Mr Dineo was speaking at an occasion to handover computers by Botswana Public Employees Union (BOPEU) to Lotsane Senior Secondary School recently. BOPEU donated computers and printers worth of P164 351 to the school. Mr Dineo said his school was determined to be counted among the best in Botswana. He said they were proud to be associated with an organisation whose commitment to the course of corporate social responsibility cut above the rest.
He said since adopting Lotsane senior in 2011, BOPEU had contributed immensely to the physical and academic development of the school. In 2011, BOPEU installed air conditioners in the multipurpose hall, in 2012 and 2013 BOPEU spent P91 950 on the 2013 Scotland trip supporting the global partnership programme.
Mr Dineo said the aim of the adopt-a –school initiative was to promote performance culture as well as resource the school where possible and BOPEU had lived up to this purpose. He said his school was aware that there was no corporate body which would like to be associated with a mediocre performer but was determined to improve its performance.
Handing over the equipment, the president of BOPEU, Mr Andrew Motsamai said his organisation resolved to collaborate with Lotsane to contribute to education in Botswana. He said the union wanted to give the school exactly what it needed with the hope that the school would improve the results.
Mr Motsamai said he was aware that poorly resourced schools could demoralise students and with the support the school could produce the best students. ENDS
