Mokubilo residents want road paved

12 Jan 2020

Mokubilo residents have asked government to consider paving the Mokubilo-Mmeya road to ease access to their village.

They made this request during a kgotla meeting that was addressed by Assistant Minister of Health and Wellness Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe on Friday at Mokubilo kgotla.

Residents said the road should be paved urgently because it was slippery, which condition is not safe especially in this rainy season.

They indicated that they had already recorded two ambulance accident cases caused by the slippery state of the road.

They argued that if government did not respond to the issue immediately, they may record a lot of accidents, which may lead to deaths.

Village Development Committee chairperson Mr Mosalagae Motlogelwa said they also experience stagnant water on the road and in front of some public officers’ yards after rain; an issue that they also need help with.

On other problems faced by the villagers, Mr Motlogelwa said they needed a post office and an extension of the clinic in their village since the facility was small.

Meanwhile, a resident Ms Sebina Ratau said Mokubilo Primary School had about four years without being renovated, adding that the classrooms were thereforeageing.

Further, she said pit latrines at the school were full and not in a condition to be used by learners.

She noted also that there was no reception class in the school, and thus pleaded with the MP to make the issue one of his priorities.

Former Mokubilo councillor, Mr Lorene Chebane complained about elephants and other problem animals that he said destroyed their crops and hindered them from ploughing.

However, the residents did not raise complaints only, but thanked Mr Lelatisitswe for his good work in his representation of the constituency. Ends
