Kweneng District Council chairperson, Mr Motlhophi Leo, has asked government officials to address concerns of Loologa ward residents.
He said intention of the meeting he recently called was to give residents chance to raise their development concerns so that they could be addressed, noting that it was imperative for residents to join hands with government officials so that projects could be expedited.
Mr Leo also encouraged government officials to work hard to meet residents’ needs.
Major concerns included shortage of water, high water bills, poor roads infrastructure and poor storm water drainage.
“There is a high shortage of water in our area, water is mostly available at night and this limits us since we fear being attacked by criminals at night and roads are damaged badly which cause damage to vehicles as well.” said one resident Mr Nkonyane Motlhabatsatsi.
The residents also complained about poor implementation of government projects such as construction of paved roads that were not completed on time.
Furthermore, the residents also pleaded with the bye law office to intensify keeping of livestock out of the village, complaining that they damaged people’s plants and interfered with traffic.
Meanwhile, the village development committee chairperson, Mrs Mpho Balatedi, also decried low funds given to their committee.
She also said it was not easy to find tenants for their houses since they were normally not in good condition.
She explained that they managed to renovate two houses, which were now occupied.
In his response to concerns of poor administration of government projects, Mr. Leo promised to visit all sites to encourage productivity and effectiveness.
A representative of the department of roads Mr Mmusi Moeng, stated that government was aware of the need to develop roads in Molpolole, however they were constraint by budget.
He, however, said efforts were being made to repair damaged roads such as the patching of potholes and renovation of the bridge along the A12 road damaged by recent floods.
On shortage of water, Water Utilities Corporation representative, Mr Kabelo Matebesi, stated that a project of drawing water from the Gamononyane Water Station that was part of the North-South Carrier 2 was underway. Ends
