CDC elects Galeragwe chairperson

Letlhakane East councillor, Mr Ketshwereng Galeragwe, has been elected Central District Council chairperson.
Mr Gabagopolwe Sebele was elected deputy.
Both the chairperson and deputy are from Botswana Democratic Party (BDP), which has a total of 174 councillors.
The two were elected during a full council meeting in Serowe on Friday with Mr Galeragwe garnering 105 out of 172 votes defeating Mr Chilume Balopi, from opposition party who got 67 votes.
Mr Sebele fof Lerala garnered 103 votes defeating Mr Jordan Makhura who received 68 votes.
Mr Galeragwe said there was need to invigorate the Central District outlook.
He expressed delight for being chosen leader of the council, a position that he said attracted responsibility and therefore said they should all unite for a common goal of assisting people.
“My five-year plan, among others, is to advocate for developments, improve contact with the community, improve efficiency and effectiveness by providing services to the districts,” Mr Galeragwe said.
He thanked councillors for according him an apportunity to run CDC.
For his part, Mr Sebele urged councillors to set their differences aside and work together.
“I take it that you have all voted for me, therefore I shall be working with all of you diligently towards the development of CDC,” he said. Ends
