Delta safaris donates to disadvantaged student

27 Nov 2019

Desert and Delta Safaris has continued with its noble gesture of helping 20 underprivileged pupils at Tsodilo Secondary School in Maun with school uniform annually.

The safari company has been helping pupils since 2014, and last week, the company handed over this year’s batch of school uniform to the school so that it may be given to selected beneficiaries.

Desert and Delta Safaris has also this year signed another five-year contract with Tsodilo JSS to continue helping the school with uniform and stationery.

Desert and Delta Safaris donates by helping 10 disadvantaged pupils  with school uniform as well as top 10 achievers to excel well in their academic work.

Since 2014, the company has been a major sponsor in relation to pupils’ welfare, including two nights trip to Leroo la Tau resort for leisure purposes.

After receiving the donation, deputy school head, Mr Tebogo Kootsholetse said Desert and Delta Safaris’ efforts had made a great impact on the pupils’ academic performance.

He also noted that such a move had provided the disadvantaged pupils with an equal opportunity to work hard at excelling in their academics like others.

Ms Kelebogile Modise, Desert and Delta Safaris human resource officer, said the company believed in investing in the community,  hence they saw it fit to adopt and sponsor the junior secondary school in an effort to lessen the burden on government.

She also said the company undertook the role and responsibility of investing in its top achievers by providing scholarship to Botswana Accounting College in Francistown, while one of the selection criteria for scholarship was for a learner to have been a pupil at Tsodilo JSS.

“The Scholarship covers the students cost fees, accommodation as well as living allowance.

The student would then be awarded a two-year employee contract at Desert and Delta Safaris,” said Ms Modise.

Meanwhile, North West region acting principal education officer, Mr Gabaakelwe Chaba appreciated the effort that both parties were making, adding such effort impacted positively on the students’ lives and their future.

He therefore encouraged pupils to value and take care of their gifts because they were a sign that the community cared about their future. ENDS
