Nine-year-old, Felepina Leburu, who was recently crowned Little Prince and Princess International pageant winner, says she is proud of her success.

Felepina a Standard Four pupil at Al Nur International School, was crowned at an event that was held in Thailand from November 12-18.

“Attending the Thailand pageant was a stepping stone to greatness, which allowed me to fulfil my dream and I am hopeful it would open doors for me,” she said.

Little Prince and Princess International is a world-class children and teen pageant founded in 2000 in Thailand, with the aim of promoting talent and culture among children across the globe.

This is the first time Botswana competed in the pageant, which targets girls and boys from four to 19 years in different age categories.

For her part, national director for Little Prince and Princess International and managing director of Queen Kay Modelling and Pageantry, Kefentse Gokganwang, said the aim of the pageant was to bring contestants from all over the world under one roof in order to exchange ideas and also to develop ramp models and humanitarian brand ambassadors from various countries as well as to encourage children to do humanitarian projects from a young age in their respective countries.

“We are excited to have won the 2019 Little Miss Model International , being that it was the first time we participated in such a pageantry as a country.

We had fun and learnt new cultures as well as shared our culture with other contestants. All the hard work paid off,” she said. Felepina also won the Miss Lil Miss Africa, an award for representing the African continent.

Felepina’s parents said they were proud of their daughter achievements though they had to provide all the necessary things needed for the competition since she did not have sponsors.

Meanwhile, Botswana will host the 2020 event. ENDS
