Two children of Borolong who drowned in a stream that connects to Shashe River last week were buried on November 23.
A boy aged five years and his 18- month-old sister met their untimely death when they tried to cross the stream in an effort to follow their mother to the other side of the village.
However, the boy was discovered on the same day trapped under a bridge and members of the public and the police launched an intensive search for the girl, whose body was discovered at Mphane lands, trapped under a rock in the Shashe River, six kilometres from the village.
The search for the girl, which lasted for three days until Friday, took the expedition as far as Shashe Dam.
Meanwhile, two men of Mphane lands near Borolong explained how they managed to discover the body of an 18-month-old girl, thanks to their dog, which led them to the body that thye found stuck under a rock along Shashe River.
Mr Lekgobo Odirile said it was around 5.30pm when they went out to look for their cattle and donkeys.
He said as they were walking along the flowing Shashe River, their dog named Deck suddenly ran in the direction where the body was stuck.
The other farmer, Mr Solomon Julius became suspicious and followed the dog to see what it was after. Mr Odirile said in a short period of time, Mr Julius called him to come and identify ‘something’ that he said appeared like a human being.
Upon arrival, indeed they both concurred that it was a baby, whom they later suspected to be the one previously reported missing in Borolong.
Mr Odirile said he then rushed back home to collect his cellphone and called the police, who came as soon as they were called.
Kgosi Israel Molema of Borolong expressed relief that the girl was finally discovered though her body had decomposed.
He also thanked members of the community for having been helping the police in the search for the girl. Kgosi Molema described the incident as devastating. ends
