Orange Botswana donated a laptop and three months prepaid Wi-Fi to Letlhakeng kgotla during the company’s taking services to the people event recently.
A representative from Orange Botswana Mr Oteng Serumola said the company continued to reach out to customers across Botswana in an effort to meet demand while at the same time increasing sales.
The Sales Coordinator said the donation was part of their social and community responsibility as a way of giving back to their customers.
Mr Serumola said his company is committed to affording their customers the best service through the different products.
He said therefore the Orange shows gave them an opportunity to respond to enquiries on Orange products and attend to queries.
Mr Serumola said Orange Money was one of the products they offered and they had been using it to save or send money.
He said since the product deals with money, they were now required to meet all the regulatory requirements as espoused by Bank of Botswana.
The coordinator said the service had been operated under BOCRA, now they were under the banking regulatory authority hence the need to adhere to the stipulated requirements.
Mr Serumola said going forward, all customers who wanted to acquire Orange Visa card would have to provide proof of the source of funds.
“Some will have to come with their pay slip, bank statement or an affidavit from the Botswana Police Service, and these are requirements which no one can run from.”
He added that the reason why the visa card was suspended for some time was so that Orange Botswana, could meet all the requirements as expected.
He added that throughout the week they had been in villages surrounding Letlhakeng such as Khudumelapye and Takatokwane where they also donated a laptop and Wi-Fi adding that it would help beneficiaries to access internet and deliver services to Batswana quickly.
He said the company would also donate groceries to four identified families and also donate football kit to the team which would win the organized tournament of the day while others will get footballs as consolation prizes.
He said former Zebras player Dipsy Selolwane who is Orange FA Cup Ambassador would help during the tournament.
In his welcome remarks, Kgosi Itsoseng Gaoonwe expressed gratitude towards the donation which he said would ease service delivery especially with communication.
He noted that the world had gone digital and Botswana was transforming into a knowledge based economy hence the need for officers to stay connected to internet.
Kgosi Gaoonwe said information moved very fast due to telecommunications and people should stay connected lest they miss critical information. Ends
