Botswana Communications Regulatory Authority (BOCRA) launched its online services in Maun recently.
Speaking at the event, BOCRA deputy director of corporate communications, Ms Mpho Moletsane said the launch aimed to educate Maun entrepreneurs in the communication industry about BOCRA’s services.
She indicated that digital communication and technology were important for consumers in the 21st century for service delivery and strong industries.
“This online service will improve the convenience and efficiency for radio operators to enable them to apply for licenses and pay for them without visiting our offices in Gaborone,” she said.
Ms Moletsane pointed out that the main objective of the launch was to promote their online services, which included license application, verification, renewal and payment.
She said they had chosen Maun for their launch since there was a high number of radio operators in safaris, aircraft and many other businesses which required radio licensing. She explained that the organisation was established to regulate the communication sector in Botswana, comprising telecommunications, internet, radio communications, broadcasting, postal services and related matters.
BOCRA chief finance manager, Mr Christopher Teemane highlighted that through the e-payment system their customers would be able to log into Web Customer Portal to view their invoices and pay without going to banks.
One of the attendants, chief pilot administrator of Wilderness Air, an aircraft company in Maun, Ms Kelebogile Ntema, appreciated that the online services would benefit them in radio licensing and save costs spent on some private radio dealers.
“I really acknowledge BOCRA for teaching us about their online services as they will improve our service delivery, manage our time and also reduce our expenses,” said Ms Ntema. ENDS
