Mabeo launches Moreomato CITF satellite
20 Oct 2019
A satellite Construction Industry Trust Fund (CITF) was launched on October 17 at Moreomaoto.
Minister of Employment, Labour Productivity and Skills Development, Mr Tshenolo Mabeo said as Botswana was committed to artisan skills development, it intended to have many satellite CITFs across the country to develop crafts common in different parts of the country.
Launching the satellite, Mr Mabeo said the Moreomaoto CITF encompassed a cultural village to give exposure to craftsmen in Boteti, which was a tourism area.
The CITFs, he said, were initially meant to nurture skills in construction since it was a major employer in the country by then, but that the mandate was changed to accommodate other crafts.
For his part, CITF board chairperson, Mr Benard Kenosi said CITF developed skills already existing in individuals to have certificates and help in employment creation as well as developing self-employable individuals.
The programme, he said, also gave graduates project management, supervisory, entrepreneurial and marketing skills.
A Moreomaoto CITF student, Mr David Gabokgantshiwe said CITF helped him with skills in construction, which he was using to generate income. ENDS
