Some local business people from across the country had an opportunity to showcase their products at a Youth in Business mini-expo held in Maun recently.

The mini-expo organised by International Youth in Business Expo organisation attracted businesses from places such as Letlhakane, Mankgodi, Francistown, Gaborone and Maun.

In an interview, one of the organisers, Ms Letang Letshabo said the Youth in Business mini-expo was a second installment to be held in Maun since their organisation was established.

She said its aim was to give exposure to local business people and their products especially those that specialised in making crafts.

Ms Letshabo said the exhibitors included those specialising in beads making, mateisi (german print), locally made body lotion and perfumes and traditional food

Youth in Business Expo, she said was a brainchild of three women, being herself, Ms Tiny Ntota and Ms Oarabile Baisi.

She said their organisation which was fairly new held a main expo annually which was also  open to international businesses as well as min-expos and products category expos for locals only.

The mini expo was complemented by a fashion show which showcased local culture.

One exhibitor, Ms Kae Johnson of Kgaka Kollections which speciliases in products made of German print (leteisi), based at Mankgodi said she hoped to expand her clientele in Maun through the mini expo.

Ms Johnson said her products were currently found in Gaborone and Kasane at Sir Seretse Khama International Airport and Kasane Airport.

She said her business started small in 2018 when she used to do make up bags for teachers where her child schooled.

She said from the positive response from her clients she got motivated to grow her business and started her brand which was initially A KAY A @36 and  later changed to Kgaka Kollections.

Ms Johnson whose products include cooler boxes, make up bags, travel bags, wine bottle holders and bag packs said she sometimes did personalised products. ENDS
