'Botswana blessed to have Masisi

01 Oct 2019

Botswana is blessed to have a caliber of Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi as its president as he has the interests of Botswana at heart and is determined to transform their lives and the economy, says Vice President Mr Slumber Tsogwane.

Launching Molepolole South BDP parliamentary candidate and councillors on September 28, Mr Tsogwane said President Masisi, who listens and engages Batswana on issues of national importance, set aside the use of Electoral Voting Machines (EVMs) to avoid complaints from opposition parties.

He said his party was preparing for victory, adding that they were standing in all 57 constituencies.

Mr Tsogwane appealed to Molepolole residents to vote for the BDP, saying opposition MPs had a tendency of rejecting developments earmarked for their constituencies in an effort to frustrate the ruling party.

He said Molepolole police station was in the current National Development Plan (NDP) and that the sewerage system would be constructed as the water situation was expected to improve.

The vice president said the BDP was the only party that had attainable goals in its manifesto backed by the current economic climate.

He said the BDP carried the wishes of the nation as outlined in their manifesto, adding that they were working towards economic transformation by venturing into a knowledge based economy as witnessed by the development of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) infrastructure nationwide.

He said the BDP had a good track record and international recognition for its prudent financial management, adding that it had been improved further by placing special funds under Government Remittance Account administered by Bank of Botswana and not private managers as had been the case.

Mr Tsogwane, who is a parliamentary candidate for Boteti West, said his party had also set up a human resources development fund to continue to sharpen the skills of Batswana to enable them to add value in the economy.

He said other parties seemed not to be concerned about development projects as they only talked about increasing salaries and allowances, adding he wondered how they would do that as the budget had already been approved and had a deficit.

Furthermore, Mr Tsogwane said the BDP was doing everything to fight corruption hence the adoption of the Declaration of Assets and Liabilities.

The BDP would be represented by Mr Kabo Morwaeng and he has been described as a hard worker who has remained faithful to the BDP over the years. ENDS
