Public servants salary increment dependent on economic growth Tsogwane
24 Sep 2019
Vice President, Mr Slumber Tsogwane says government does not have any problem with increasing public servants’ salaries.
Mr Tsogwane, who is also Botswana Democratic Party chairperson, told political rallies in Mopipi and Rakops that salary increments would be done in line with economic growth.
The aim, he said, was to ensure that productivity was improved, saying the increment would be done according to skills.
He stated that government had plans to up-skill and re-tool public servants to motivate them and enhance productivity in the workplace.
The BDP manifesto, he said, was focused on infrastructure development, citing roads, health facilities and schools.
Mr Tsogwane said the national transformation strategy team had been formed to help assist with identifying employment opportunities for the youth, indicating that BDP aimed to promote Local Economic Development and an export-led economy.
He stated that government was going to develop the arts industry, adding that Hollywood comedian, Steve Harvey recently visited Botswana as part of developing the industry.
Okavango campaign chairperson, Mr Mbaha Kambimba reiterated that the BDP government’s aim was to focus on infrastructure development.
The intention, he said, was to introduce subsidies for livestock vaccines and seeds as well as for farmers to supply schools and the Botswana Agricultural Marketing Board with their produce.
BDP, he said, was a renewed party that had devised a new manifesto aimed at implementing developments and growing the economy.
For his part, Boteti West campaign manager, Mr Baobonye Loeto said BDP was going to claim back Mopipi ward from opposition in the upcoming elections, as it had won the ward by default.
Mopipi prospective council candidate, Mr Ofentse Gabalathane said water network expansion had been carried out, adding that they also promised improved health services, while Tsienyane West prospective council candidate, Mr Batsweletse Kgagamedi said he was going to advocate for Boteti West to be declared a sub-district.
He indicated that human/wildlife conflict would also be addressed. Ends
