Liquor operating times stand

Official trading hours as stipulated by the liquor (amendment) Regulations, 2018 will prevail during Independence Holidays.
According to a media release from the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry, bar liquor, club liquor and liquor depot licences authorise the sale and consumption of liquor on the licensed premises between noon and 10p.m. from Sunday to Thursday and from noon to mid-night on Friday, Saturday and public holidays.
It says a bottle store licence authorises the sale of liquor to the public for consumption off the premises between 10a.m and 7:30pm on Monday to Saturday including public holidays.
On Sunday no bottle store shall be open.
Wholesale and distributor liquor licences authorise the sale of liquor between 8am and 5pm on Monday to Saturday as well as 8am and 1pm on public holidays and no wholesale liquor and distributor liquor shall be open on Sundays.
The release says a night club licence authorises the sale and consumption of liquor on licensed premises between 7pm and 6am daily, including public holidays.
No liquor shall be served in restaurants except between noon and 1030pm from Monday to Thursday, noon to mid-night on Friday, Saturday and public holidays and noon to 1030pm on Sundays.
Furthermore, a restaurant licensee may serve liquor in an unsealed container to a person who takes a meal in the licensed premises for consumption on the premises.
A temporary liquor licence for festivals, picnics and other public activities authorises the sale of liquor between noon and 6am on Monday to Saturday including public holidays and between noon hours and 6pm on Sundays.
Furthermore, the release says traditional beer (Amendment) Regulations, 2018 authorises sale of declared traditional beer (Khadi, Setopoti, Mokuru, Nkumbi and Ila) from residential premises between 10am and 8pm daily, including public holidays.
All liquor business operators and managers are therefore advised to observe and comply with the provisions of the Liquor Act and its regulations. Ends
