PPADB celebrates excellence

Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Board (PPADB) employees have been applauded for providing quality procurement.

Speaking during excellence awards in Gaborone recently, secretary for development and budget in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, Ms Grace

Muzila, said PPADB staff contributed to macro employment, poverty reduction and by large economic growth.

Ms Muzila said the event was aligned to PPDAB’s vision of excellence to which she said was also in recognition of the role played by quality procurement in economic growth.

She said employees performed their duties with excellence, transparency, integrity and fairness aligning the strategies and plans with quality procurement.

She said, as they celebrated their excellence awards, they should also be reminded of the national transformational agenda.

However, she indicated that for an employee to deliver national transformation, they first needed to transform individually.

She, therefore, urged management to prioritize on the individual transformation of their employees and personal growth.

Ms Muzila said management needed to empower individuals and get rid of disempowering frames.

She further urged employees to self-reflect and continue on improving on the self.

She advised them to plan their lives and have individual agenda in order to perform diligently.

PPDAB executive chairperson, Mr Elijah Motshedi, challenged staff to dream big and plan their lives accordingly.

He said they should work hard to realise PPADB vision of being the centre of excellence.

Mr Motshedi said PPDAB strived to attain excellence at all times and he promised to lead an effective and accountable public procurement system that yields value for money.

He also said they aspired to inspire public confidence and enable ease of doing business by treating bidders equitably.

PPDAB awarded seven categories of best overall performer for 2018/19, executive chairperson’s award, brand ambassador, customer centricity, and intern of the year, team award and long service award. Ends
