Fourth industrial revolution cannot be ignored
22 Sep 2019
The fourth industrial revolution is said to be a collision of three worlds, being the virtual, digital and physical.
Speaking during Botswana Mobile and Internet Summit in Gaborone on Thursday, author and transformational speaker, Mr Tumelo Sitayelo said the fourth industrial revolution was a phenomenon that could not be ignored.
Mr Sitayelo therefore called on individuals to have a desire and time to develop themselves to adapt to the revolution.
Information Technology Enterprise architect, Mr Geoffrey Agyepong-Yeboah said the summit was about technology, how it enhanced people’s daily lives and how it would impact on generations to come. He said Botswana was taking steps to becoming a knowledge-based economy by using ICT as an enabler in all its sectors and embracing broadband.
He said the event provided real-world, practical solutions happening at the crossroads of cyber security, artificial intelligence, and internet governance amongst others.
The fourth industrial revolution is a developing environment in which disruptive technologies and trends such as the Internet of Things (IoT), robotics, virtual reality (VR) and artificial intelligence (AI) are changing the way people live and work. Ends
