BTC Foundation plays role in community development

Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC) has pledged continued support to communities in which they operate.
Speaking at a signing ceremony Tuesday, BTC managing director, Mr Anthony Masunga said as a local company their business was an integral part of the community, and that it was imperative for them to play a significant role in their development.
In that regard, BTC Foundation signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Nufix and also donated Wi-Fi connectivity for a year and printers to Kanye Independent Living Centre and Marojane Primary School.
“We want to leave a long-lasting legacy therefore I want to urge all the beneficiaries to use the funds and the donated equipment for the intended purpose and make a positive difference,” he said. Giving an overview, BTC Foundation chairperson, Mr Michael Mothobi said the sponsorship and donations to the three entities was worth P230 158 of which Nufix would receive P198 030 to roll out and conduct an edutainment campaign across junior and senior secondary schools.
He said the objective was to assist the organisation to use edutainment to encourage wellness and promote positive behavioural change by discouraging alcohol and substance abuse and use arts and culture to disseminate valuable information and sharing success stories.
He further said the donation to Kanye Independent Living Centre was valued at P20 901 while Marojane Primary School would receive P11 227.
Ms Itumeleng Molale, a teacher at Marojane Primary School, expressed gratitude for the donation and sponsorship.
She said she was hopeful that the donation would make a huge difference in the school. ends
