25 Aug 2013

Majwe Mining joint venture has donated P16 000 to Jwana Primary School recently.

The donation, which was presented during the school’s PSLE victory party and prize giving ceremony recently, is in support of the Vision 2016 pillar of ‘an educated and informed nation.’

Handing over the money, Majwe Mining human resource business partner, Mr Innocent Fitlhane said they believe in leaving a legacy behind for the community in which it was based. He said donating to schools was investing in a bright future for the country.

Mr Fitlhane further explained that donating to the school also encourages and motivates students and teachers to work hard for better results, mentioning that an encouraged and motivated individual excels.

In addition, he said the donation will go a long way in shaping the future of the children and elevating education in the country for greater heights.

Principal education officer, Mr Ndoda Sephiri appreciated the donation by the mining company, saying the donation was a sign that the partnership between the private sector and the Ministry of Education and Skills Development can make the pillar of ‘an educated and informed nation’ a reality.

Parents were encouraged to take part in their children’s education as a partnership between parents and teachers would help in solving some of the challenges that teachers and students face.

The mining company has already donated P1 million to be used by primary and junior schools in Jwaneng and one junior in Maokane for prize giving ceremonies that are intended to encourage and motivate students to attain better results. The money will be used in a period of three years. ENDS
