Botswana Savings Bank (BSB) acting director of operations, Mr Modise Gokatweng has urged students of Denjebuya Junior Secondary School in Tutume to take their education seriously and avoid things that could distract them.
Speaking at a prize giving ceremony at the school recently, Mr Gokatweng said in the modern world, education was at the centre of life and therefore the key to sustainable living.
He said education placed an individual at an advanced level of life and encouraged learners to take it seriously.
He commended and congratulated the recipients of prizes and stated that it was through their patience, hard work and discipline that they managed to be where they were.
“Aim high. Fight a good fight until you receive the final trophy,” he said, adding that those who did not make it should put more effort and never give up.
Mr Gokatweng also commended teachers for the effort they had put in to mould the students into great future leaders.
Moreover, he called upon parents to cooperate with teachers by meeting regularly to discuss the welfare of their children.
He also warned teachers who have a tendency to engage in sexual activities with students to stop the habit, adding that HIV and AIDS was an eminent threat to humanity. ENDS
