Progressives promise economic reconstruction

02 Sep 2019

Alliance for Progressives (AP) leader, Mr Ndaba Gaolathe, has challenged voters to remain focused as the general election day approaches.

When launching the aspiring Member of Parliament for Lentsweletau/Mmopane, Mr Goodwin Samuel and nine council candidates, Mr Gaolathe said his party was focused on an inclusive economy.

He, therefore, promised constituents a new Botswana, where the equitable distribution of resources would always prevail.

“It is through your ballot that you can make your voice heard,” he said

The AP leader said his party was ready to guide and govern the country’s economy as well as safeguard the interests of Batswana against any wrong-doing.

Meanwhile, AP’s presidential advisor, Dr Margaret Nasha, said despite AP being despised by some, they would remain resolute in what they believed in and concentrate on a rigorous campaign to realise their dream of taking power.

“We remain unshaken in our decision since we are a party formed with a purpose to release Batswana from chains of slavery and redirect the economy,” she emphasised.

She said AP, through its sustainable programmes, was working towards transformation of the country’s economy.

Dr Nasha called for tight measures in the fight against corruption saying the arm of justice should not be selective, but be extended to all wrongdoers.

Molepolole North prospective parliamentary candidate, Mr Thuba Koontse, called for unity among party members to be able to achieve their goal.

He urged Batswana to guard against empty promises made by some political parties towards elections that were never fulfilled.

AP’s Kweneng regional committee member, Mr Boipuso Dikgang, gave the party president assurance of victory that he said was eminent in the region.

“Let us not panic but solicit support from the electorate,” he said.

He said it was disappointing that Lentsweletau area was the least developed, despite the electorate loyalty to the ruling party since independence. ENDS
