Unlock youth potential - Khama

Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development, Mr Tshekedi Khama says there is need to unleash youth potential.

Closing the The fourth annual Youth Business Expo during the awards ceremony recently, Mr Khama said youth were the ‘biggest natural resource’ in Botswana.

He said the future of the country belonged to the youth, hence the need to nurture and mentor them as well as fund their businesses.

Assistant minister in the youth ministry Mr Dikgang Makgalemele indicated that youth contribution to the development of the country could not be ignored.

He applauded their creative capabilities and innovation displayed during the exhibition and thus implored them to take advantage of the available programmes to assist them in expanding their businesses.

Meanwhile, the ministry awarded 25 prizes in nine categories of manufacturing, science and technology, agriculture, food processing, professional services, consultancy services, tourism, environmental and conservation as well as creative arts.

Onias Industries from Kgatleng District bagged the big award of most outstanding with a prize money of P25 000 as well as scooping first position of P15 000 in the manufacturing category.

The expo was held under the theme ‘Brand It, Market It, Win It.’

The expo seeks to accord youth in business an opportunity to showcase their products and services, build networks and marketing platforms for their products. ENDS
