Pilane Shopping Mall is undergoing expansion.
In an interview, the mall centre manager Mr Rorisang Macheng, said expansion of the mall’s 1100sqm available space entailed adding five more shops.
He said the ongoing phase two of the expansion, which started last year, would bring mixed service providers as a way of diversifying what they offered to customers.
“The expansion will have economic benefits as more people around the area will get employment and we also expect more interaction from customers as now their preferred brands will be nearby,” said Mr Macheng.
He further said they also intended to bring at least one more fast food outlet, more Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) and ensure that the parking area was safe.
Regarding challenges that they faced when the mall was opened, Mr Macheng said that some tenants could not start operation as there was problem in issuing operation licences.
Mr Macheng further noted with concern that taxis from Mochudi were granted permission to drop off customers at the mall, something he said affected their business as customers had to be dropped off by the Pilane Old junction which was 500m from the mall.
“This should be resolved because we lose customers because some do not want to walk that distance and also, after buying how and when do they have time to be looking for taxis to help them with their shopping bags,” he said.
On marketing the various shopping service outlets at the mall, Mr Macheng said they had constant marketing strategies aimed at attracting customers including advertising on various media platforms .
He said they were also helping Mmandia Helping Centre in Bokaa with vouchers to buy food which was prepared for the elderly when they visit the Bokaa Post Office to get their monthly pension allowance. ENDS
